Derbies

The derby first came on the scene in the mid-19th century. Unlike Oxford shoes, this model is made so that the quarters with lacing lie on top of the smooth vamp. This is known as the open lacing system which is the key distinctive difference between Derby shoes and Oxfords. The shoes are more informal than Oxfords and are perfect to be combined with chinos, jeans and other casual outfits. For a more formal and classic look, choose a black derby whilst for a more casual one, a brown pair would be ideal. The shoes are best suited to people with wider feet as it fits more comfortably due to the open lacing which provides the shoe with extra leeway.
