OUR ROOTS
Every place leaves its mark on what it creates. In Italy's Marche region, shoemaking has been part of the local culture for generations, shaped by the people who live and work there. Most Scarosso collections are crafted in Montegranaro, at the heart of one of Italy's most renowned footwear districts, in partnership with a network of workshops and family-run ateliers where Italian craftsmanship has been passed down for generations. Every day, we work side by side with skilled artisans whose expertise, precision and dedication shape every pair. It is a shared heritage that continues to evolve, collection after collection.
Italian Craftsmanship Begins with the Finest Materials
MADE IN ITALY
For Scarosso, Made in Italy begins long before production. It starts with the careful selection of raw materials and a close collaboration with skilled artisans. Every leather is chosen according to the design and construction of each model, considering its origin, texture, softness and natural consistency. Our Italian leather shoes are crafted using carefully selected leathers that preserve the authentic character of the material. Less processed hides retain their natural beauty and individuality, requiring greater expertise in selection while offering unmatched authenticity.
A Conscious Supply Chain
Most of the leather used for our handcrafted shoes comes from cattle raised for the food industry, giving new purpose to an existing natural material rather than relying on synthetic alternatives. Depending on the design and construction of each model, we select full-grain leather, nubuck or suede. Full-grain leather preserves the hide's natural surface, nubuck is created by gently buffing the grain side, while suede is crafted from the lower layers of the hide. Every material is carefully selected to enhance the character, performance and longevity of our Italian leather shoes.

Every Scarosso prototype starts with a wooden last, shaped entirely by hand to define its proportions, silhouette and fit. Once perfected, the last is digitally scanned and reproduced with precision for production. It is where Italian craftsmanship meets modern technology, preserving the value of skilled hands while ensuring consistency at every stage.
Every material has its own texture, structure, durability and visual character. For this reason, every pair of our handcrafted shoes is designed to highlight the natural qualities of the leather. A short supply chain allows us to oversee every step of the process, working closely with workshops and artisans while maintaining consistent quality control from start to finish.
Construction Techniques
Our shoes are still crafted predominantly by hand. Technology enhances precision without replacing craftsmanship: cutting tools optimize the use of every hide, while skilled artisans oversee each stage of assembly to ensure consistency and quality throughout the process.
Depending on the model, we use different construction methods to achieve the desired performance. Blake construction offers lightweight flexibility, Blake Rapid construction provides additional structure and makes resoling easier, while cemented construction is selected for styles that require specific technical characteristics. Every pair undergoes a final quality inspection before packaging, reflecting our commitment to precision, durability and Italian craftsmanship at every stage.
